SALEM, Oregon— Yesterday, voters in the blue state of Oregon decisively rejected a state law giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. At last count, the “No on Ballot Measure 88” campaign’s margin of victory in Oregon’s statewide referendum was 68% to 32% percent.

If you haven’t already turned in your ballot it’s too late to mail in now. However you can take them to ballot drop boxes in your county and they’ll be counted until 8 PM on election day, next Tuesday.
The Secretary of State’s Elections Calendar for November 4 says: “Official drop sites open 8 hours or more and until 8 PM for depositing cast ballots. County Clerk’s office open 7 AM - 8 PM for issuing and depositing ballots.”

Oregonians for Immigration Reform and Protect Oregon Driver Licenses announce the results of a legal examination of claims by supporters of driver cards for illegal aliens that passage of Measure 88 would require the purchase of auto insurance by driver card applicants.
Attorney Jacob G. Daniels of Creswell OR made the analysis and prepared the Memorandum below which is addressed to the friends of No on Measure 88.
Here is his summary of the findings from his examination:

The Protect Oregon Driver Licenses campaign is hosting a booth at the Oregon State Fair which is opening Friday, August 22, and continuing through Monday, September 1 (Labor Day).
We’ll be inside this year, in the Columbia Hall building, immediately adjacent to the 17th Street entrance to the Fairgrounds. Please drop by the PODL booth (Booth #303), say hi and introduce yourselves.
We'll have informational literature about the PODL campaign to distribute to visitors and will be happy to answer questions or discuss issues.

The Secretary of State's office just released the ballot titles for all of the initiatives, referrals and ballot measures that have qualified for the November 2014 General Election ballot. The Protect Oregon Driver Licenses citizen's veto referendum has been assigned as Ballot Measure 88.

Today, in a 36 - 24 vote, in the Oregon Legislature - the House of Representatives voted to shove a stick in the eye of over 77,000 Oregon voters who rightfully and diligently participated in the citizen veto referendum process.
HB 4054A overrides the constitutionally guaranteed process by dragging a never used law out of the depths, that allows the Legislature to write, not only the ballot title, but the ballot yes and no statements and ballot summary language. This move smacks of placing the fox in charge of the keys to the hen house.
